Background
Slicing bagels in halve is a key problem for most people, there is no uniform or controlled way of slicing a bagel equally. The most common method of chopping a bagel involves, holding the bagel with one hand and using the other hand containing the bread knife, to slice through the bagel. This current method has a number of flaws the main ones being the risk element, the person is in danger of cutting themselves and other being the bagel never slices evenly.

At present there are a very small number of products on the market which exist, to help overcome the problems mentioned above, and those which do exist are not as well designed, they only help to some extent.

Aim
The main aim is to develop an innovative bagel slicing device, slightly different from rest of the existing products on the market. The styling has to fit with Ikea's principles, e.g. use of materials, productions processes and so on…
