Magazine Covers

Magazines are periodical publications containing a variety of articles on various subjects. Magazines are typically published weekly, or monthly, with a date on the cover that is in advance of the date it is actually published. They are often printed in colour on coated paper. Magazines usually have articles on popular topics of interest to the general public and are written at reading level of most of the population.

‘The magazine cover is formidable selling tool. For more than in any other form of printed media, it is the cover that sells. The magazine has provided the canvas for some of the world’s greatest designers and art directors but also has created long lasting icons. From Richard Nixon on the cover of Time to Mohammed Ali’s depiction as a martyr for Esquire’

I have based my study on magazines because; I have a keen interest in them. I chose magazines, because they have a much closer link to graphic design in terms of typography and colours.
