The Food of Art

The Food of Art - This series analyzes twelve still life masterpieces for their nutritional content through the creation of Nutrition Facts labels. Though the piece is obviously humorous, the data is rich and often indicative of the artist’s socioeconomic status. For example, compare the court painter Frans Snyders’ 39,851 calorie feast on the previous page to Vincent Van Gogh’s wine, tobacco and three meager onions.
