LaCie wanted to explore the possibilities of new concepts for external hard-drive enclosure. The brief was very opened, by design, to allow more creative solutions. The only constraint was to use a classic 3.5” hard drive. Project was done when 500Gb hard drives were “big”...

Strategic design choice:
Offer a design with a very different outlook. Something never done before with such products and shapes (using a breakthrough technology: 3D metal printing), to give to the product a premium positioning.
