Marketing and Communications Manager for iComm International

Company Background:
The IT and communications headquarters of an international group of companies engaged in the export and sale of vehicles. iComm International provides a wide range of IT, customer, communication, marketing, human resource, financial and administration services.

Responsibility:
Head of the marketing department reporting directly to the president and to the CEO. Responsible for all marketing and communication requirements for corporate needs such as advertising, corporate communications, public relations, website design, and others.

Manages staff comprised of 15+ employees specializing in graphic design, copywriting, marketing, search engine optimization, website design and internet marketing. Works closely with Web/Developers department and Systems to manage the company�s web and sales infrastructure and with Customer Service department in running customer-oriented programs and promotions.

Part-time Instructor for the University of San Carlos, Fine Arts Department

School Background:
The University of San Carlos is the largest and most respected educational institution in the Visayas and Mindanao. The Fine Arts department offers the best Fine Arts curriculum in the region particularly in the Advertising Arts major.

Subjects handled:
Currently teaching Advertising Production, a major subject for graduating Fine Arts � Advertising students. The course covers advertising in actual practice to include planning, media scheduling, and actual advertising production. Also handled Layout in previous semesters.

Creative Director for Yorkshire Design and Outsourcing

Company Background:
A new company founded by a British expat that ventured into tourism publications and, subsequently, design outsourcing targeting foreign clients.

Responsibility:
The key person in developing and leading a creative team that offered services to mainly foreign based companies.

Achievement:
In the short time employed, was able to establish the company�s operating infrastructure which became the foundation for its currently successful business operations.

Art Director, later Creative Director for ASAP Advertising - Cebu

Company Background:
The leading advertising agency in Cebu. It currently services local and leading national companies such as SuperFerry, PLDT, SKYCable, and Virginia Foods, among others.

Responsibility:
As creative director �
Responsible for the overall conceptualization of creative brand marketing and advertising solutions for all clients. Head of the creative team comprising of an art director, a pool of artists, copywriter, and photographers.

As art director -
Responsible for the art direction of all graphic projects and the direction and supervision of other contracted work such as special photography and pre-printing processes.

Resigned from company of previous employment to pursue a full-time career in music. Relocated to Manila to work full-time. Performed as lead vocalist and guitarist for �Sheila and the Insects�. Released 2 albums during this period. Continues to play with the band but on a part-time basis.

Continued to work as a freelance designer mostly for entertainment production companies and outsourced jobs from advertising agencies.

One of Cebu's leading advertising agencies in terms of size and accounts. Specializes in marketing materials design, advertising, and special events management.

Responsibility:
Responsible for the art direction of all graphic projects and the direction and supervision of other contracted work such as special photography and pre-printing processes.

November 1997 - January 1998
Art Editor for the The Independent Post

Company Background:
Founded in the latter part of 1997, The Independent Post was Cebu's first and only cooperative-owned newspaper. In its first few months of operation, The Independent Post quickly gained respectability and a steadily growing circulation. Known for its dynamic brand of journalism and sharp layout, the company met with financing problems which was aggravated by the Asian Regional Crisis of that year which, unfortunately, forced it to close.

Responsibility:
- Collaborated with the creative director in the graphic conceptualization, layout, and overall design of the newspaper.

- Responsible for the art direction of the editorial cartoons, graphic images, special tables and graphs, diagrams, and other artwork.

- Shared responsibility with the creative department in the daily layout and graphic design of the paper particularly the lifestyle, Business, Community, and other pages.

Art Director for Graphic FX Advertising and Design

Responsibility:
Supervised and directed the art pool comprising, at that time, of four full-time graphic and computer artists. Responsible for the art direction of all graphic projects and the direction and supervision of other contracted work such as special photography and pre-printing processes.

Senior Artist, later Art Director HB2 Publishing, Inc.

Company Background: HB2 Publishing was founded in mid-1995 by two young entrepreneurs. Its main business was the publication of "Conduit�, a bi-monthly computer and communications magazine.

Responsibility:
Invited by the company to work as senior artist but upon the resignation of the art director in June of 1996, was immediately promoted as replacement.

Areas of responsibility:
Chiefly responsible for the design and layout of "Conduit". Directed and supervised work by contributing artists and photographers. Handled all advertising and design work from clients and advertisers.

Background of employment:
Started work as a "summer job only" novice artist and was later invited to stay on after summer to work as part-time artist. College studies during this time prevented work on a full-time basis.
