lifestyles april 19th 2011 - one of my favorite lifestyles pieces, the story was designed as a doubletruck as opposed to two separate pages. this made for a more eye-catching and continuous reading experience, and also gave me a chance to work with awkward sized ads [lower right] while practicing visual journalism. all newspaper pdfs are my work, but property of the daily of the university of washington.

lifestyles january 18th 2011 - this particular night involved very heated discussion on which images were most suited to lead. while the story itself was on crow research, the strongest composition was the 'slipknot' style image on the right, which also had the strongest lifestyle element to it. we eventually ran the slipknot picture as the main while putting the actual research images as secondary because of the lifestyle element. all newspaper pdfs are my work, but property of the daily of the university of washington.

lifestyles may 17th 2011 - a prime example of a page that was put together because the original story fell through. all told, from deciding to hold the original story to sending the file to the printers, this page took about 2 and a half hours. the original story was held because of its massive potential, since it was a very strong piece, but required a few more angles to fully achieve its potential. all newspaper pdfs are my work, but property of the daily of the university of washington.
