Portland Riot is the name of a cement lamp that I designed in the fall of 2011. The assignment was to design a lamp that fit the material restriction of "ephemeral" and the mood word of "angry." The route I took is to encase a lightbulb in solid cement, and in order to reveal the light, the user must smash the cement.
