With the launch off the minivan-like Innova in 2005 Toyota created a segment that was essentially new to the Indian market. This was a segment that had never really been formed in the market, and was waiting for something to come along. A quick competitive research study - a good five years earlier - pointed me down the same road. While evaluating options for potential derivatives of an existing platform, the MUV / minivan stood out as the most promising option.
