First, we started mindmapping the problems that the Taiwanese elders can run into as they grow older.
Then I drew a storyboard of the daily problems of this elderly man, and how he finds enjoyment, health and friends through an interactive walking path at a playground, as the Taiwanese like walking and hiking above all other activities.
Then our team began to create models.
We then picked the hiking machine I had designed, as hiking was ranked as a top activity for the Taiwanese, and it let them join another person in playing a game.
We decided to add a maze to the sides so the children could play while their grandparents work out; however, we needed to make the design more curvaceous for safety reasons.
The design features ergonomic rubber-dipped handles with handrails that allow the user to safely work out their arms while they hike.
The motion of the treadmill creates power that is stored in a DC generator, and is used to power a fan that pushes a ball to the top of the hill-shaped tube. This way, the users can work together to reach a goal.
Our final poster for our team.
