A self-motivated individual who has always had a passion for design. This initial passion was artistic, however throughout the journey of education it has developed into a well-structured collection of processes. The knowledge obtained from higher education along with the placement year, has proven that I am capable of analysing procedures within activities and simplifying processes that are unnecessarily difficult. Having recently completed my final year of study on the BSc Product Design course with a first class honours degree, I am equipped with a creative mind, excellent communication abilities and the eagerness to learn new skills. I am actively looking for work opportunities within the Design Industry. Please feel free to leave a comment on my work.I am available to contact anytime, simply refer to my resume for the details. Thank you.

Mechanical Design Intern, Eaton Cooper Industries Ltd (Full time)
(September 2012 - June 2013)
This role involved: designing sheet metal components to create market leading products, using CAD software to generate 3D visuals and 2D drawings, using a variety of industry recognised software packages (such as DraftSight, Corel DRAW, Radan, SAP and Bartender), building prototypes and samples using external suppliers and in house production facilities, creation and upkeep of components and BOMs on the SAP database.
As a participant on the Eaton Cooper Intern Programme I was expected to present an ‘End of Year Review’ to important MD’s and line managers. This was a final off site visit, based in the Eaton Cooper Bussmann site (Loughborough, Leicestershire). I made a positive impact on this day, professionally conducting a 20 minute presentation to 30+ line managers and MD’s that were based all around the UK Eaton Cooper sites.
This role has equipped me with: a comprehensive awareness of the processes involved to bring new products to market in the Fire & PAVA (Public Addressable Voice Alarm) sectors, improved team skills (working within a team of professionals to complete different tasks), improved communication skills (presenting and liaising with employees at all levels) and improved professionalism and work ethic.
This role involved: working with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create print-ready artwork which feature in weekly newspaper adverts, leaflet and magazine design, menu design for the in house cafe, bridal box packaging designs and assisting the main graphic designer with any other tasks.
This role has equipped me with a strong understanding of graphic design application.
Two separate events, where I was responsible for: chaperoning visitors to the help desk in the Open Day, helping and guiding visitors who were lost around the campus, giving out directions, maintaining the help desk in organisation/appearance and replenishing stock.
Responsible for designing the logo of a new after school tutoring business in Leeds. The logo has since been redesigned and inspired following my own styling and can now be seen on the website:
Subjects that the degree included were: working with CAD software packages, stress and strain analyses, surface and solid modelling, prototyping, manufacturing and fabrication methods, ergonomics, anthropometrics, hand sketching/rendering, business/market strategies and personal design projects. As well as providing a thorough grounding of the design process, the degree work has also taught me effective time management and prioritisation skills, organisation skills and analytical skills. During the degree, presentations to seminar groups as well as professional design consultancies as part of live projects were undertaken. This has aided in developing strong presentation and communication skills.
