Fred Perry: April 2011 to September 2014 Designer Working at Fred Perry has provided me with in depth knowledge into how a global brand works. Responsibilities and skills of my role include - • To have a clear understanding of current and forward trends. • Translate brand relevant trends into design. • Produce seasonal trend documents that pull together new branding applications and materials that have brand DNA relevance. • Building seasonal colour palettes that incorporate new & heritage colours. • Developing new kits, lasts and patterns. • Update carry over styles. • Develop concepts for collaboration opportunities with other brands. • Achieve the highest possible quality in materials, make-up, attention to detail, branding and finish. • Produce clear and detailed CAD renderings and specifications to handover to developers and factories. • Work independently and within a design team. • Present range clearly to design manager and MD. • Work towards a precise critical path. Wilson Imports: January 2010 to April 2011 Designer Working at Wilson Imports provided me with a strong grounding into how a volume supply company works. Responsibilities and skills I gained during this role – • Creating commercial designs for varied retailers & licensed brands. • A good understanding of price sensitive product. • An understanding of fast fashion. • Designed for all genders & age groups. • Development trips to China & sourcing trips to the Canton Fair. • Daily contact with factories regarding the development of new products. • Produce clear and detailed specifications to handover to the factories. • Meeting with buyers to discuss new opportunities & new developments. Ellesse Italia / Pentland: April 2009 to November 2009 Designer: Product concepts, trends & artwork support. • To give seasonal direction to all global partners across clothing, accessories and footwear by producing a seasonal trend document detailing clear product & marketing stories, style, colour, material, graphics & trims. • Working with key partners to create new product ideas that stimulate originality and creativity inline with the brand DNA. • Create fast track reports keeping the team and partners updated on global consumer trends and showing how they relate to the Ellesse brand. First Brands: August 2007 to January 2009 Designer • Designed ranges for Clarks, JJB, Blacks, Millets, Next, Slazenger, Mountain Warehouse & Magic Marine. • Designed for all genders & age groups. • Liaised directly with customers and suppliers. • Working to individual briefs. • Developing product from sketch through to final sample. • Designed hi tech uppers & constructions. • Overseeing development of shell patterns, prototypes, blue prints, and outsole moulds. • Selecting materials to achieve a target price specification. • Creating a range of commercial colour ways. • Illustrating all designs in CAD’s and providing detailed specs to suppliers. • Travelling to the Far East to review production for each customer range with suppliers and visit factories. Fred Perry: January 2007 – June 2007 Junior technical footwear developer • Designed a new Andy Murray range of tennis shoes. • Style, color & market research. • Reworking existing styles. • Detailing SMU projects. • Checking samples for fit, wear and size, then relaying any issues back to factories. • Sample management. • Updating critical path on sealing/shipping status. Fresh footwear / 33 Joints: 2006 Designer • Designed for brand licenses including Firetrap, Golddigga, Feud and SPX. • Detailed specifications. • Checking and confirming samples and relaying changes for factories in China & Portugal. SKILLS • Excellent CAD skills in both Illustrator & Photoshop. • Competent and communicative drawing style. • Practical and technical knowledge of footwear construction. • I am very precise and my attention to detail is high in both my illustrations and specifications. • I have good people skills and believe I contribute to a happy and creative working environment. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
