Product Designer and Illustrator
Over twenty years experience in concept development, designing soft goods and hard goods for licensed properties, and producing artwork
for the toy, gift, home décor, greeting and collectibles industry. I have designed products that have been manufactured in various types of materials (injection molded and blow molded plastics, roto-cast vinyl dolls, PVC, resin figurines, plush and fabrics) and action vehicles and figurines that have included mechanical and/or electronic parts. Home Décor products include mirrors, wall hangings, resin and ironwork designs. I have also produced illustrations for POP displays, packaging, posters, puzzles
games, textbooks and children’s books. My experience in the animation/film industry included producing background keys, character development, conceptual drawings, storyboards and production paintings. I work in traditional art and digital art using Photoshop with a Wacom tablet.
Senior Character Artist/Product Designer
1991-2001 Applause/Dakin Woodland Hills, CA
Responsible for creating new products for licensed properties like Disney Studios, Disney Store, Lucasfilm, Children’s Television Workshop, Muppets, and Warner Brothers. Developed plush toys, action figurines,
and game toys for movie tie-ins and premium programs for Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Pizza Hut. Designed collectible resin figurines, snow globes, pillows and blankets, photo frames and mugs for seasonal and everyday home décor lines.
Additional responsibilities included producing presentation boards, sketches for brainstorms, and providing spec drawings in scale of views and turnarounds of product designs for sculpting or prototyping. The most important part of this position was being part of a team working closely with the marketing and engineering departments, visualizing 3D concepts in 2D drawings, and working within the production and manufacturing costs of the product. I was also involved with the packaging and the display of these products.
