My textile collection focuses on my journey from Stuyvesant Town to The New School Buildings on 5th Avenue.
My walk to school starts out very detailed and slow, I look at the trees, flowers, and people passing by. This is the time I walk slow and appreciate where I live.
Once I hit 14th Street and Ave B things start pacing faster and I am less observant.
From 14th Street all the way till I reach my classes my vision is a blur. I don't pay any attention to my surroundings and all i notice is the gray pavement. Until I reach The New School building I don't see anything, my mind is focused on getting to school as fast as I can. This is what I wanted to base my collection on. The concept of blurred vision.
For my colour story I looked at the photographer Billy Kidd and his decayed flower photos. I was inpired by the light and dark tones that was captured from the flower petals. I also wanted to keep the gray pavement as part of my colour story.
For my textiles collection I was inspired by the artist Peter Gronquist, who often paints large paintings of a blurry scenery.
Since it was a fall collection I wanted to experiment with fur, knits and yarn.

For this project we had to document our everyday journey and create a collection that was inspired from that.
