1house

1house celebrates the interaction between households, while maintaining a minimum of privacy and of ownership, through the use of programmatic bridging. Programmatic bridging is defined as the linking of private housing units and housing blocks using semi-public and public programs that are suited for the demographic housed. For example, four 2-bedroom family apartment units may be programmatically bridged by a children's play space. A block of 2-bedroom units may then be linked to the neighboring housing block by a public daycare space. Over time programmatic bridging increases interaction between households going about their daily activities, uniting the complex into an actively networked 1house.
