WORK EXPERIENCE:
HONEYWELL (India) – Technology Solutions Lab

Duration: May 2002 to date

Designation: UI Designer – User Centered Design
Responsibilities: Creating awareness within the organization about User Centered Design. Integrating the UCD process with the SDLC and evolve the process. Use Six Sigma tools.

Provide UCD consultancy to multiple project teams across Honeywell domains. Imparting UCD related training. Conduct heuristic reviews, follow usability testing methodologies, conduct lab usability testing (in India and remotely), interact with customers/ users/ usability teams across the globe on a regular basis.


Consultancy

Role: Freelance (offshore) Graphic Designer
Client: Ernst & Young Middle East

Responsibilities – Conceptualized and designed the Ernst & Young Middle East recruitment brochure. Worked on a complete offshore model, interacting with the clients in various locations in the Middle East through emails and telephonic conversations. I was involved in designing the brochure in QuarkXpress, constantly interacting with the clients for periodic review and feedback, making iterations as per requirements, image sourcing and co-ordinating with the printer for the final positives.

Responsibilities – I provided user experience consultancy and worked on designs for various pre-sales project. I was responsible for providing inputs for project proposals, and coordinating with the in-house team as well as outsourced professionals. Was responsible for conducting interviews for recruitment and identifying freelance resources for the organization.



MICROLAND Group - Planetasia Ltd.

Projects:
Client – MTV NE (Northern Europe):
Project Description – Project pitch to be the interactive development partner for MTVNE. The project involved:
1. Proposing re-designed multilingual interfaces for different European regions.
2. Designing the project proposal docket.
3. Designing the client extranet within the Planetasia website
4. Designing the interfaces and the proposed personalization module.
Responsibilities – I worked on designing the interfaces in different languages for different European regions. I was responsible to design the project proposal docket, and the client extranet keeping the visual communication consistent throughout. I was also responsible for working on the proposed personalization module and the resulting ‘personalized’ interfaces for the site.

Client – General Cologne Reinsurance – USA (Offshore):
Project Description – The project involved, developing
1. Corporate intranet for the employees of the company
2. Intranet for the IT department of the company
3. Personalization of their existing public site (www.gcr.com)
4. Housekeeping modules for each of the above.
Responsibilities – I worked on designing the interfaces for both the intranets and the personalization section of the public site. The design followed a style guide, given by the client that needed to be followed across all the interfaces. I however, initiated many improvements in the style guide keeping in mind future development issues like scalability and maintenance. I am also worked on the information architecture and interface design of the housekeeping/content management maintenance application.

Client – SecurityVillage, USA (Onsite- 6 months):
Project Description – The project involved:
1. Conceptualizing and developing a portal on home and small business security systems. The portal included features like online purchase of products, personalization and dynamic content.
2. Conferencing with the client on a regular basis to make presentations.
Responsibilities – I was responsible to develop ‘concept notes,’ and prototypes and get the client approval on the same. I worked closely with the information architect and creative writer to define the best ‘user-experience’ for the site.

Client – Sony Music India
Project Description – The project involved:
1. Conceptualizing and creating a brand for ‘Fantastic Females.’ (Promotional site of four new female artists launched by Sony)
2. Develop downloads – Screensavers, wallpapers for each artist.
Responsibilities – I was responsible design a brand for ‘fantastic females.’ I worked closely with the creative writer to work on prototypes for the client, researched the background and persona of each artist, to be able to give them the same identity in site. Apart from the screensavers for the each artist, I also conceptualized and designed one for the site.


VisioHUB (Consultancy)

Duration: Oct 2001 to Apr 2002

Responsibilities – I was responsible for providing User Experience consultancy for project proposals, and coordinating with the in-house team as well as outsourced professionals. I conducted recruitment interviews and identified freelance resources for the organization. I worked closely with the in-house team and an out-sourced technical team for the development of the Karnataka tourism website from the conceptualization stage till the completion of the first phase.


MICROLAND Group - ITspace.com

Duration: October 1999 to June 2000
Designation: Web Designer

Key Projects:
I was responsible for establishing identity for the new channels in terms of colors, fonts, and visual functionality while maintaining design consistency with the main site. Involved in information design of the channels - E.g. Jobs, Stocks, conferences etc.

Chat: The channel has regular events like Tech Talk, Celebrity Chat, Trivia etc., emphasizing on the community angle of the portal. I was also responsible for online advertising campaigns of these events.

News: The channel has been revamped to have more features like interviews, special stories etc. I was responsible for the re-design of the information architecture and highlighting the new features that were introduced. Responsible for the design of ‘News Features’ within the channel which deals with detailed articles, crosswords, grapevine, weekly columns etc.


Living Media India Pvt Ltd
Business Today magazine

Duration: July 1998 to July 1999
Designation: Art Director

Role: I was responsible for conceptualizing and designing the Cover, cover story layouts and supervising entire magazine design. Conceptualize and brief illustrators and art direct photo shoots.

Re-Design of the magazine:
Worked closely with the editorial team to bring about the changes in the magazine. Introduced new fonts and colors.

Design of the Anniversary Issue:
Coordinate with the out-sourced Designer for the main grid and layout of the Anniversary Issue. Supervised the implementation of the same.


Center for Science & Environment

Duration: Jan 1997 to July 1998
Designation: Designer

Role: Involved in building the web site, designing photo research, photo editing for Down To Earth magazine and designing exhibition stalls for the organization.

Design of the Annual Report:
Worked closely with the editorial team to in designing the same. Coordinated with the illustrators and photographers.

Campaign on polluted drinking water:
Independently handled the campaign that involved designing a poster, a book cover (Homicide by Pesticide), the direct mailer for the book, the invitation cards for the book release function, the newspaper ads and banners. Gave inputs and coordinated with the creative writer.

Design Supervision of Down To Earth magazine:
As the design department head for Down To Earth magazine, I was responsible for designing important sections of the magazine and supervise the overall design. Conceptualize and design the cover, source photographs from various organisations in India and abroad, coordinate with the Editor, the editorial team, the illustrators and photographers.
