akshara: design of playground equipment for children

The declining interest of children towards playground equipment is a concern because it is hindering the all round development of the children. More precisely, the physical and social growth of the children is hampered. The situation demands amends in the present design of playground equipments so as to draw more attraction of the children and hence solve the above mentioned problem. The project deals with the modification in the designs of the traditional playground equipments (see-saw, slides, etc) to make them more visually appealing.. In light of the gaining popularity of the theme parks, all park equipments are modified so as to resemble Latin alphabets (alphabets are chosen because children are easily fascinated on seeing a familiar object in an unexpected form), hence the name ‘AKSHARA’ (which means ‘alphabet’ in Hindi). The aim of the proposed designs is to offer better aesthetics without compromising with the experience offered by the existing traditional designs.
