A Family of Safe Biking - The objective of this project is to design two bicycle mirrors that offer more features than their competitors. One mirror is designed for drop handlebars, while the other is made to fit flat handlebars.
Offering More Than the Competition - Most bicycle mirrors on the market offer two adjustment degrees of freedom, and attach to the bike with a screw in lock. By offering more degrees of freedom, a collapsible mirror, and quick adjustment aids, Cycleaware can offer more features than the competition.
Sketch Refinement and Design Features
Two Designs For Different Users - For the initial direction Cycleaware decide to produce two bike mirrors, one for bent road bike handlebars and another for straight handlebars. Both mirrors can be fully adjusted without tools, have a larger mirror surface area and better articulation than competing bike mirrors.
Urbie Folding Neck Mirror - The urban mirror design has more degrees of movement than any mirror on the market. It also has the ability to close so that the bike can lean up against a wall.
Release to Market - The Urbie Cycleaware bike mirror was released in 2011 and is sold in traditional retail shops, through online orders, and bike accessory catalogs.
Roadie Bar End Mirror - The road bike mirror offers three degrees of movement with a minimal amount of parts. The design has more mirror surface than the competition, while aesthetically resembling the Cycleaware family.
Release to Market - The Roadie Cycleaware road bike mirror was released in 2009 and is sold in traditional retail shops, through online orders, and bike accessory catalogs.
Product Family - The Cycleaware mirror family is sold in stores as a collection. The mirrors not only have a similar design language but are also engineered to be used without tools, unlike the competition. Because the mirrors share similar ball and socket dimensions, an entire product line can be made with a limited amount of new parts, and makes it easy to set up new mirror designs
