basswood blockhouse, 1/16"=1' - One of my first architectural models that I fabricated back in the fall of 2002. Using a known dimension in the provided photograph (the front door), I extrapolated the dimensions of the rest of the major elements to come up with this pretty fair approximation.
Newman residence, 1/4"=1' - Taking some existing drawings for a major remodel of my friend's house, I completed this project in about 80 hours. The roof was made with cut strips of dark papyrus paper overlapped onto museum board. The nature of this wonderful material is that I didn't have to cut out individual pieces to reflect a cedar shake roof- the grain of the papyrus took care of that for me!
WorkShop and SiloLoft - This personal project is still in the development stage (like...where are all the doors and windows?...). Ever since I started school, I've been wanting a workshop of my own. This assymetrical structure would be roughly 23 feet square, with the addition of a Silo built in...I'm hoping some day to find an old retired silo that some old farmer wouldn't mind passing on! Going up a spiral staircase, one would enter into the SiloLoft. The SiloLoft would be approximately 15 feet in diameter and would be roomy enough for a queen-sized futon mattress and an efficiency kitchen. Curved fusuma (Japanese opaque sliding doors) would open out onto a balcony that would give one the impression of being up in a treehouse. Other Japanese-influenced elements are to be: wood floors, flagstone pathway inset into floor, and a poured stone threshold. It is hoped that these elements would blur the demarcation between the outside natural environment and the interior bringing one more into contact with nature.
Reflection Garden with Labyrinth, 1/8"=1' - This project was born out of the experience of having to spend several days in the hospital with a loved one. There weren't many places to stretch your legs outside on the grounds- it was all parking lot! There was this one empty lot however that had one big, old maple and a couple picnic tables. It was just the right spot for a project like this one.
Spaceball Pro - I wanted to come up with a new version of the Spaceball that had among its many functions, a keypad that at the touch of a button would function as an instant calculator with its own LED display. This is a SolidWorks/PhotoWorks generated model. This piece also exists as a hands-on model.
