I teach at the University of Washington, where I am on the faculty in the Division of Design. In the past I was the Director of User Experience at Harman/Aditi Technologies where I lead teams in Seattle, London and Bangalore. Prior to that I worked for NCsoft/ArenaNet on Guild Wars 2 and other MMORPG related products and services. I spend about 75% of my time teaching and 25% as a management and design consultant in the customer experience space.

Internally I have spearheaded the company wide UX model for forms, created standards and templates for information architecture, site mapping, personas, wireframing and accompanying notation and created organizational materials to help business leaders visualize our market and various user metrics. I have worked on all public facing company game brands: Guild Wars 2, City of Heroes, Lineage 2, Aion, and Wildstar. Work has primarily been centered around advocating for the user and meshing their needs with technological and business requirements. I especially enjoy the cross cultural analysis of our global gamers and localizing content to suit their needs. In my role at Ncsoft, I am happy to draw on the skills I have in both visual design and user experience. Slalom Consulting www.slalom.com Seattle,WA May 2010- July 2011 (1.5 years) Title: Founding Interactive Art Director I was recruited by Slalom to help found an internal UX/UI team, and enjoyed the opportunity to lend my leadership skills to help guide the nascent team and to see it grow into a group of 6 people. In my role as interactive art director, I was responsible for the research and creation of mobile applications and desktop websites (IA, UX and Visual Design) as well as helping to guide junior designers with their work, and providing quality assurance across all design and UX materials. Additionally, I served in the areas of business development and sales, estimating projects, interviewing candidates and strategizing for our UX team. Slalom is a privately held $400M company with 7 regional offices and headquarters here in Seattle, where I was the sole Interactive Art Director. We were the 2010 Microsoft partner of the year and the projects I have worked on were predominantly for Fortune 100 companies such as eBay, Microsoft, SAP, Starbucks, Group Health, SAVO, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and others. In 2011 for my UI/UX work on the Group Health mobile app I received both a Mobile App of the Year award from Tech Flash and a Mogul award from Slalom. Cornish College of the Arts www.cornish.edu Seattle,WA 2009 -2010 Title: Adjunct Faculty I taught Visual Communication/Semiotics and Design Fundamentals to undergraduates. I loved the passion and fresh curiosity of the students while teaching, but left when offered the challenge of helping to found the UX team at Slalom. I am sure someday I will return to teaching. Tellous LLC www.tellous.com Seattle,WA 2004 -2012 (8 years) Title: Principle/Owner Filled with the entrepreneurial spirit and eager to start designing, following graduation from Cornish I went into business for myself opening a small studio called Tellous in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. Though Tellous started small helping local coffee shops and neighborhood businesses to establish a web presence, within a few years I had successfully grown my clientèle to also include Fortune 100 companies such as Boeing and Microsoft and was managing teams of people to design large scale interactive experiences for worldwide groups of users. Though currently I work full-time, I still maintain Tellous and occasionally will help consult on projects of interest.
