Shower CD and Shower Radio Series. Industrial Design, Project Development/ Management, 2002 - 2006. Featured Product in Wired Magazine's What's Next, August 2003. First in the series of new products to update and replace the current lineup. Design influences came from the idea of incorporating appearances from popular lineups of front loading washers and dryers for the home. Working to make the LCD and controls the center point of the design made for a whole new look that created a tight focal point that both the CD and radio unit could take advantage of while at the same time highlighting the newly developed aluminum cone speaker technology entering the market. Functional versatility was also an important factor, so the LCD was developed to alter when the unit was used horizontally or vertically - a useful feature when used in shower or table top situations.
Wireless A/V Series. Industrial Design, Project Development 2002- 2006. To build out TSI's product offering several A/V projects were developed to offer customers wireless audio and video options for home TV, music and surveillance. Working with 2.4ghz and the burgeoning Bluetooth wireless systems, the design team was somewhat ahead of the development curve for consumer-ready out-of-the-box products. Included in that series of product, a wireless iPod-ready audio 2.1 system, a TV A/V signal transmitter, a wireless shower TV and baby monitor were developed.
Sound Soother CD and Radio Series. Industrial Design, Project Development/Management, 2002 - 2006. The Sound Soother lineup of product was an extremely popular group for TSI. Charged with designing a new series starting with the Sound Soother 50, both the appearance and function, as well as the sourcing of new sound loops was the undertaking for this project. The highly successful CD Sound Soother, Table Clock and Traveler Clock were designed to share a family look and became the second generation design for the series, developing key features that ended up being shared among several other audio projects.
CD & DVD Power Towers. Industrial Design, Project Development 2001-2008. Borrowing on inspiration from the company's consistent seller, the Power TIe Rack carousel, the idea was to take the belt drive concept used to rotate ties around and modify it to operate vertically in a chain link design that was both belt and CD/DVD support sleeve in one. Using details found in the CD jewel boxes themselves to use as locking snaps, users could pop them in/out easily and, while the support sleeve, would be kept in place even when inverted as the carousel looped around and back up. The belt and tower system became a popular product leading to a double CD Tower and DVD Tower unit.
TSI Audio Headphones. Product Development/Design - TSI Retail 2006-2008. The series of headphone projects were a co-development project with the TSI Retail Team. The task of the projects was to modify and apply new design features with a partner/vendor to create an exclusive product line using Bluetooth and noise canceling technologies.
One of the more popular categories was home outdoor, and audio projects were a strong focus. Several floating wireless speaker concepts were designed for selection and development for 2008 - 2009 introduction. Durability and compact design were main goals, combining wireless 2.4 and/or Bluetooth communication with waterproof rechargeable battery packages.
