Joel Villaflor

I've been called a creative guru, jedi, and other not-always-flattering four-letter words. I am most passionate in the presence of brilliant ideas, design, and the arts regardless of where or when it happens. Over my many years as a creative art director, I've executed work for some of the biggest brands in the world, and in a broad spectrum of categories. So what have I seen as the universal recurring theme, and most valuable piece of insight in my 30+ year career? It's this: Regardless of whether a client is spending millions of bucks, or almost nothing at all (a.k.a. pro bono), their common desire and expectation is in getting the best, smartest output, with the greatest ROI. What keeps them coming back for more is our big ideas, strongest design thinking, execution, and the most exclusive customer service possible. We are still in one of the most distinctive and ever-changing industries on the planet. And our ability to bring delight to the human experience is where we shine our brightest. In many ways, the work I've showcased here is a small part of my own story. However, this journey is never truly complete, and I believe great collaboration is the key to my success. That said, I would like to give kudos to the many clients, creative directors, copywriters, design masters, colleagues, students and interns who have inspired me in one way or another. At the end of the day, I hope I've at least returned the favor. ~JV
