The Lumina nanocrystal bulb - The Lumina bulb runs on CdSe magic sized nanocrystal phosphor. This bright bulb is both a replacement for standard 60 watt lightbulbs and an emergency flashlight. Lumina, as a flashlight - When this flashlight is removed from it's charging base (a nightlight), it is always on. The switch selects either ambient or direct flashlight modes but never off. This prompts the user to return the flashlight to it's home for charging when done.
Lumina Problem Statement - The problem with flashlights as i see it is mainly that you can't find them when you need them. Put them in a logical place, associate light with light, keep them charged, and make them light up when they're needed.
Lumina Design Concept - By making a flashlight that both plugs into regular lamp sockets and serves as a regular bulb, it can always stay charged, but not block an outlet without serving a purpose.
