People want to define mobility in different ways to suit their own personal lifestyles and interests. The design process can reveal emerging user experiences and connect the sculpture and form of vehicles to the dynamic expectations of modern lifestyles. An abundance of empathy embedded in the design and research process is critical to defining clear user experiences that can translate into profitable business models. Creating a viable product in the 21st century means anticipating not just aesthetic trends, but behaviors and how they’re influenced by technology. For years I’ve been creating some of the most exciting cars through aftermarket manufactures like Unplugged Performance and show vehicles for Toyota. Although I regret not pursuing transportation design in my education, my career as a product designer gives me a perspective in car design that places the user experience at the heart of every solution.
