Oak Ridge wanted a simple but elegant logo that would work well in any application (i.e. cast iron hanging signs, door mats, clothing, etc.). The palette reflects the basic colors found in many of the Gilded Age and Craftsman style houses being built in Oak Ridge.

Digital watercolor for an Oak Ridge Craftsman style carriage house cottage. Client specified an almost "storybook" look and feel to the painting to convey a childlike sense of "happy home".

For the carriage house project, the builder provided a basic 3-D rendering of the plan. They were unhappy with the characterless, antiseptic look of the rendering — it wouldn't "sell" the house to prospective buyers. They requested that I create a digital ink & watercolor drawing that captured a mood of welcoming warmth, endless possibilities [for landscaping] and a place one would love to come home to.
I revised the external features as per the developer's specifications (siding, cedar shakes, copper flashing, hand laid stone foundation and pillars, etc.) and then I created the surrounding hardscape and garden using various photo elements. After those were in place I began "painting" in Photoshop. The entire image was put together in Illustrator and Photoshop.

Digital watercolor of wood shingled, multi-storied, customizable Victorian house in Saratoga Springs.

For this house, I received the basic elevation drawing with some color comments. My mission was to create an elegant Gilded Age house with landscaping appropriate for the local area and lend elegant dignity to the structure. The developer only indicated color of siding and trim and their signature hand laid stone foundation, I came up with all of the other elements — roof tiles, window styles, hardscaping, and of course the landscape/garden design. This project was done entirely in Photoshop.
