This collection draws inspiration from my time in the mountainous regions of Oaxaca, Mexico, where human resilience meets the relentless force of nature. I was captivated by the way communities build into extreme slopes, layering concrete into impossible inclines, shaping stability from instability. Yet, even in these manmade efforts to tame the land, nature always finds a way back. Plants push through cracks, roots fracture foundations, and the mountains slowly reclaim what’s theirs.
The garments in this project reflect this tension between control and surrender. Structured silhouettes echo the hard edges of concrete and mold and form to the body because of the laced-up seams. At the same time, natural textures and organic colors speak to the unstoppable growth of nature breaking through. It’s a story of coexistence, the impermanence of structure, and the quiet power of the natural world.
