Kids - Kid designs done using red pencil, and then rendered out using marker, colored pencil and a brown brush pen. This is the process I tend to use now in my personal sketchbook.
Jonny Sprocket - Character Design inspired by AstroBoy. All images started out as red line pencil, and then the top images were inked using a brush pen and the main image was taken into Photoshop to color.
Soldiers 01 - These were done as studies of various military uniforms and trying to distinguish each one with variation in shape and proportion.
Soldiers 02 - These were done as studies of various military uniforms and trying to distinguish each one with variation in shape and proportion.
Baseball Players - Main characters are done in Marker and Colored Pencil. The smaller gestures were quick 1-5 minute gestures while watching baseball on tv and trying to get a general feel of the pose.
Metal Men - These designs were done after reading the Metal Men comics and figured they'd be a fun animated series. The designs are inspired by old 1950's animation. All characters were drawn in brush pen and colored in Photoshop
Style Studies- Boxer - Testing out different styles presented in the animation industry with the Boxer-type character. Most images are done using brush pen and photoshop colors with the exception of the purple one that is done using marker and brush pen, and the bottom left hand character which is graphite and photoshop colors.
Sergeant Sourpuss - Character Design for a character I created in college while in my animation class. Decided to revisit him and redesign him. Lines done in red pencil or brush pen and colors in Photoshop
Blaze Magnum Clean-Up sample - Character design for my Sergeant Sourpuss idea. I did the roughs in red colored pencil and then cleaned them up with a brush pen.
Mobsters - These character designs were done to test the use of a limited palette and in some cases a lack in an exterior line. This was also a study in shape/proportion and size.
Edison Wattage - Character Design for the lead character in my Headcase comic book. All images were done using brush pen and the main image was taken into Photoshop for colors.
Fairy Godfather sketches/doodles - The whole idea on this was that Disney had a ton of Fairy Godmothers but no Godfathers, so it's a bit of a tongue in cheek/play on words. All images done in graphite, and the main colored one was done in graphite with Photoshop colors.
Zombie Silhouette tests - Zombie designs using a sharpie pen. This is something I do to explore shape and proportion without getting into all the details.
Boston Terrier studies - Studies done of my dog while watching him around the house. The color version was just a quick, simple test in Photoshop CS3
James Pond - This one is just a concept of an idea I had in my sketchbook. The drawing with Pond holding the martini glass is the image from the sketchbook, and I just went from there. I hope to do a series of graphic novels with this character in the future.
