Poe’s Scary Stuff Directors Statement Summary: This show is intended for a middle school aged audience. The overall focus is a playfully presented selection of the romanticized gothic style poems of Edgar Allen Poe, using humorous episodes of Goosebumps as inspiration. The look should emphasize the gothic romance but not in a heavy or academic style. The set can be designed in any arrangement to the audience within the Valencia Black Box Theatre.  The script requires unit set that can support interior and exterior locations. Furnishings and props should be kept to a minimum.  Evocative words to inspire design: Mortality and Playfulness Oversized tarot cards scattered across the stage levels create multiple entrances and exits for the actors. Each card represents a story presented in the play. The stack of cards may be used as seating or an additional level. 

Jesus Christ Superstar Directors Requirements: General feel of Jerusalem Old Town and Roman period—but not slavishly so.  Goal is to humanize the characters—not historical accuracy. Unit set with multiple levels for staging options with numerous entrances and passages between levels. Should provide a stage to support movement on a grand scale. Anachronisms are encouraged.
