Walking in the Air - A piece of "fan art" for my favorite Christmas/winter movie EVER: Raymond Briggs' - The Snowman. An amazing animated short, simply a work of art. Love, love, love.... =)
Golden Fish
Northern Lights - Northern Lights is inspired by The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. This book has been a favorite of mine since I was a young adult (in the 12-16 years sense). I first read it back in middle school when I was thirteen. Recently, I revisited the completed His Dark Materials series for inspiration in writing my own first book. In this image, I've portrayed Lyra and her daemon, Pantalaimon, gazing up at the northern lights. I wanted to show Lyra as a blend of: hopeful, troubled, and awed.

Firefly Magic's inspiration comes from the feeling of a balmy summer's evening and the mysterious qualities of twilight. I spent many a childhood summer's night in my backyard with a canning jar. I still grow mesmerized when these fairies of summer appear.
Dragon Blossom is an image inspired by both the beautiful spring blossoms here in Virginia and the recent trip I took to San Francisco, where I attended the Cherry Blossom festival in Japantown. It started with the idea of a little boy curled up reading in a blossoming cherry tree, only the tree is really a dragon and his reading material is an ancient scroll. Perhaps the dragon is somehow imprisoned as a tree and the boy keeps him company by reading to him? (Note: I made up the "language" on the scroll, as I did not want to embarrass myself with a nonsensical cut and paste job of any real language.)
