The Box
Studio 1 Project: This was an introduction studio where fundamentals of design are learned, like components of complex spaces, coulees, phenomenal transparency, and proportions.
Design Approch: The studio started out in 2D compositions that represent phenomenal transparency; the manipulation of different planes/fields, that depth is perceived by one plane reading behind another. These compositions were then extrouded to create space. By use of regulating lines and Coulees to percieve a push and pull effect of the differing volumes. The goal was not to read the interior spaces as separate volumes, but as ones that overlap and connect the viewer to the space. The perspective above is the graphic repersntation of this exercise.
Skills Learned: This studio Covered many basics to design that include a progression of model-building skills, Drafting skills, classical fundementals of modern design. From this studio we were taught how to speak about our designs in an academic manner.
