Lancaster Bench. Made from a burled black walnut floor board out of a century-old barn in Lancaster County, PA. The board had so much natural character that I chose to only sand it smooth, and not perfectly level. The splines are made from an off-cut of the same board that brightened up significantly when they were sanded flush. I also retained, though rendered safe, several square-headed, wrought iron nail heads from the time of the barn's original construction.

The whole piece is 5' 9" long, 15" at its widest, and stands 18" tall.
Finished in natural Danish Oil and hand-rubbed, satin polyurethane

The frame is fabricated from 1" square tube steel, and finished in matte black powder coat.
Keystone Stools. From a board of black walnut that sat around in a barn for a few decades, unused, covered in dust, dirt, and cobwebs.

Furniture and Installations

In my personal time I enjoy designing furniture. Now that I have set up a workshop I also enjoy fabricating some of my designs.

I prefer to use steel and solid hardwood, with the former providing a framework for really showcasing the latter. I try to design furniture that is attractive, practical, honest and well made.

These are the first few pieces I've completed, but there are others on the way. Being based in the Lehigh Valley in PA, steel seemed appropriate, and the wood is all locally sourced, recovered hard wood.
