Communications device - This project was run in conjunction with British Telecom and Alloy.
I was inspired by the growing integration of mp3 players into mobile phones.
If this was to be manufactured, the casing would be made from high quality pressed aluminium.
Lights of the future: 2003 entry - This is a coffee table lamp designed towards a male market.
I wanted to achieve a form with harsh angles in stark contrast to the delicate light emitted from the flourescent tube.
RSA Competitive submission, Ideal Standard Brand Brief: Easy Clean Keyboard - Submitted for the RSA Design Awards 2004.
The brief basically involved choosing a new area for the "Ideal Standard" sanitary ware brand to move into.
I chose "Ideal Standard Office" as the new brand, and an "Easy Clean Keyboard" as the product.
Computer keyboards harbour 3,295 microbes per square inch.
By contrast, the average toilet seat contains 49 microbes per square inch.
"Ideal Standard" is associated with cleanliness and reliability.
The 'non-electrical' components of the “Easy Clean Keyboard” can be simply removed and easily cleaned in any dishwasher.
Design For Manufacture and Assembly: Hole Punch - This Office hole punch is designed for the minimum of assembly.
Major Systems Project: Movie cube, Personal Movie Selection System (For use in video rental shops) -
Choosing a video for a group of people is especially
Difficult which usually results in returning to the words......
“I’ve Seen That One!”
Not with the "Movie cube".
It searches through the rental shops archives and allows you to see trailers of films before you rent them.
It also has a handy buddy list which gives the user the option of excluding the films that their friends have previously seen from the search.
Now it’s easy to pick a movie to watch with friends.
