Treasure box
A treasure box that opens with a "key" ring.
The Design:
The end user (my then soon to be wife) is also a mechanical engineer and the gears represents our profession.
The aesthetic I wanted to achieve was "a secret box out of a treasure hunt movie".
The Fabrication:
The parts are lasercut out of acrylic and plywood.
The movements are achieved by servos and driven by an Arduino.
The Ring was design in CAD, then 3D printed in wax. It was then investment-casted in sterling silver, with a Neodymium magnet inlaid into it.
