Peripheral vision accompanies central vision. While central vision covers about thirty degrees of the visual field straight ahead, the peripheral, or side vision, covers the rest. Peripheral vision is not as sharp as central vision, but it is more sensitive to light and motion, helping us detect objects and movement happening at our sides.
Motorcyclists often ride outside of other drivers’ central vision. Being in the peripheral field of vision can be very dangerous, especially if gone unnoticed by distracted drivers.
To help improve motorcycle visibility, the saddlebag extensions house radar sensors that detect approaching traffic and notify other drivers by illuminating the saddlebags bright LED strip lights. If the vehicle gets too close to the motorcycle, the LEDs will flash repeatedly until there is a safe distance between the vehicle and the motorcycle.
