We worked out a version both for 2 and 3 plugs.
Here you can also see the locking system to keep the cylinders in place.
When unlocked, plastic "springs" in the casing push out the cylinder far enough to remove it.

Modular Power Plug for NIKO

For the company NIKO we had to design a product to enrich their assortment. Throughout brainstorming we came to the conclusion that power plugs should have more than one function. An important aspect was Power-line Communication.

We developed a modular power plug system that works with cylinders for each function, be it a regular plug, a USB-charger, a night light or a WiFi transmitter. Cylinders would be interchangeable.

This was a group project, where each team member drew a part in Siemens NX. Flow analysis was used to make sure each part would be fit for production.
