Upon first hearing the assignment we started exploring different structures possible within tensegrity. We soon found this one and felt like we could use it to make a chair.
Because the previous mockup wasn't that sturdy to work with, we replaced the wire with rubber bands. Having a more flexible model we shaped it and used papertape to emulate the canvas.
Gijs putting the last hand to the actual structure.
Outlining the shape of the canvas. To hold it in place we decided to use velcro all around.
Finished prototype before cleaning up the remaining rope ends.

Based on the principles of tensegrity we had to design a piece of furniture for seating or storing. It was a project in groups of two and I had the pleasure of working with Gijs Depoortere. We decided to make something inbetween a chair, a bed and a hammock.
