Jumeirah Village #3 - The Jumeirah Village #3 was based on three months of research that was contracted for the Nakheel Corporation in Dubai, UAE. The main focus of the proposal was to integrate green-space throughout the circulatory spaces within a shopping and recreational complex. In doing so, this would convey the extravagance of 'Dubai World' while functioning as a multi-use complex in the heart of Nakheel's Jumeirah Development.
Jumeirah Village #3 - By utilizing the impact of exterior forces on the site it was possible to allow the buildings physical form to become a generative response to Jumeirah Village. This process became the means for controlling where the building programs were focused; high traffic areas became the center of programs that are commonly utilized while areas with less impact on the site would focus more on specialty programs.
Jumeirah Village #3 - Sectional quality of the Jumeirah Village #3 as it responds to both site and transitional flow of programmatic space.
Jumeirah Village #3 - The building circulation becomes a garden walkway, an oasis of green in the surrounding desert. The green spaces are made possible by utilizing a carefully controlled building skin that functions as both structure and solar control.
sHift House - Phase one of the University of Kentucky's research for the HBEER (Houseboats to Energy Efficient Residence) project.
sHift House - The primary concern for this concept was to re-tool the manufacturing process of the houseboat industry while retaining the labors current skill set. The 'sHift House' also utilizes materials and systems that are already practiced in the industry while taking the architectural result in a more contemporary direction. This project utilizes a prefab POD system that can interact and shift in and around the rigid structural system of the 'smart deck' which hides the buildings mechanical systems.
