Dune Sled

This project required the use of thermoforming techniques to produce a functional prototype. The brief was further refined to design a sled for sand dunes.

In New Zealand there are plenty of steep sand dunes available to the public. When people sled down them, they often use objects not intended for this purpose such as corflute sign-age and cardboard. These make-shift sleds are frequently left on the beaches contributing to pollution. Vacuum forming being a low volume production method was suitable for making sleds locally and of value to the user, as not to discard them on the beach.
