Footwear Designer / Developer / Maker

A First Class BA Honours Footwear Design Graduate from DeMontfort University, with a passion for all aspects of footwear, from Design & Manufacturing for both Men’s & Women’s fashion & performance. A talented, enthusiastic, unique designer, with reputable drawing & illustration skills, who is eager for a challenge & takes pride in his work. Possessing the technical ability to turn design into functional, innovative & unique products. An up to date designer gaining inspiration from fashion trends, popular culture & alternative innovative design/art.

Ability to work to a creative brief, but alternatively push its boundaries by applying new ideas with functional & marketable values to create commercial products. An eye for proportion, material & colour, with creative & technical abilities for the development of highly thought out footwear & products. An ambitious nature to grow as a designer & gain further knowledge in all aspects of the industry. A healthy competitive nature & yearning to learn, stemming from a history of committed sports from a young age (skateboarding, basketball, athletics & mixed martial arts) & alternative lifestyles, opening doors to new experiences & cultures which led to an early love of footwear & the need to peruse a carrier within the industry.

Developing new trend lead footwear for the worldwide market. Working closely with & gaining vast range of knowledge & skills from an experienced design team & sales force. Creating trend & market lead footwear for the masses & dedicated customer base. Retaining an up to date understanding of the current footwear/ fashion trends & market placed product, along side materials & colour was an important role. Visiting trend & alternative sports based shows, with visual & written reports following the visits to apply to product development was essential. Working on developing products for two historical brands & working to strict parallel seasonal deadlines was a challenge, but also refreshing as I had the opportunity to create full ranges of quality thought out footwear for Frank Wright & lifestyle sports inspired product for Gola.

GOLA CLASSICS: Full design, colour & material development inspired by current street culture/ fashion & sports products. Developing new products for the brands Premium, Lifestyle & Heritage for Men's, Woman's & Kid's ranges

FRANK WRIGHT: Full range development on existing & new product. Designing luxury Men's fashion footwear, everything from sole units, upper constructions, sock liners & graphics. Attention to detail was key to design.

Employment ended as a result of redundancy.
    • Men’s Fashion & Lifestyle Footwear Designer

      Aug 2010 - Dec 2010 (4 months)
Ikon & Base London. Designing fashionable lifestyle & smart men’s footwear, branding, graphics & creating trend reports for 2 successful brands. Also designing MTO footwear for the high street (Clarks, Next, George, M&S).
Initially employed to help the company develop a new image & range of footwear to suit today’s trends, to attract & gain new customers whilst still meeting the needs of dedicated buyers of the brands.
Working closely with a group of experienced individuals within the footwear industry, gaining knowledge about factories & the process of development to mass production, understanding the financial aspects of running a brand to manufacturing products (working out of Ranipet, India for periods of time working directly with the factories, last makers & leather suppliers, developing new products & further learning new skills). Finding trends within the market place, using online sources & scouring the streets of Britain was an important part of my job, this helped me gain a greater understanding to what customers want & to further more help me develop ranges of fashionable shoes that appeal to the mass & niche markets.

Employment ended due to requirement for a more challenging position.
