Dartmouth's Office of Advancement Communications seeks an experienced Art Director whose work will help colleagues in Alumni Relations and Development achieve their goals by working in partnership with the Creative Director to create and produce great designs and inspire others on the design team to take creativity to the next level. The successful candidate will co-manage the design team by training, assigning, scheduling and delegating projects to in-house designers, overseeing creative concepting, and mentoring staff; collaborate with digital, editorial teams in developing marketing plans, and aligning team priorities with business objectives to deliver high-quality work on time and on budget.
A Bachelor's degree in graphic design, or similar discipline with 10+ years' experience as a professional graphic designer with 5+ years of experience in management role; proficiency with design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite; exceptional capability with creative concepting, typography, layout, and prototyping; highly skilled with leading a team of creative talent; strong creative vision; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Experience in a wide range of graphic design projects in all media; solid knowledge of photography and video production. Prior experience as an art director preferred. The ideal candidate will have the creative spark, strong visual sensibility, initiative and cool temperament to produce great work in a demanding, agency-like environment. You will be client focused, team oriented, deadline driven with the ability to "turn on a dime" when priorities change. Proficiency in all design related programs and languages on Mac including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and UX design tools (Sketch, InVision) preferred.
