Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) in Design

The School of Interactive Arts & Technology (SlAT) is a vibrant, multidisciplinary and internationally recognized school connecting design, computing and media. SlAT's teaching and research draw upon fields ranging from design and interactive technology to cognitive science and media arts. SlAT offers degrees at bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels. The School currently enrolls about 800 undergraduates and 110 PhD and Masters graduate students. SlAT's infrastructure includes state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities at Simon Fraser University's Surrey campus.

We are seeking applicants for a tenure-track Design faculty position at SIAT. Applicants should have a research and teaching focus in Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Communication, Information Design, User Experience, or that encompasses both theory and practice. Successful candidates will have an established design practice. The successful applicant will contribute to and expand one or more of these areas: user interface/user experience design, interaction design, computational design, embodied interaction, wearable computing, e-health, games design, immersive environments, mobile and ubiquitous computing or other emerging areas of design.

Applicants should have a PhD and are expected to develop research programmes that attract external funding. SlAT expects that applicants will also successfully collaborate with other faculty in our highly interdisciplinary environment. Applicants should have teaching experience at the undergraduate level and a strong potential for instructional innovation. All SIAT faculty must have a high degree of technological literacy regardless of their disciplinary background.

Simon Fraser University (SFU) at Surrey is the University's newest campus located in the greater Vancouver region of British Columbia.
