Job Description Summary:
The Game Development Department offers on campus, online, and dual credit courses across Central Texas. The department is currently initiating a course revitalization process to update its approach to gateway composition courses that all degree-seeking students must take.
The Game Development, Animation, and Motion Graphics Department is all about training students for the local and national job market. Our top-notch faculty is a who's who of local talent, hardwired into the latest trends and eager to give students the real-world expertise and know-how that comes from years of experience in the business. Our degree and certificate programs are designed by a committee of local digital industry professionals preparing students to jump into the creative industry. Classes within the department can benefit students just out of high school, people who'd like a change of career, and professionals in the industry who wish to update their creative and technical skills.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
Prepare and teach courses in the field of Game Design to a diverse and multicultural student population based on the department's approved course learning outcomes, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of community college students and the standards of the discipline.
Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and departmental governance, including curriculum review and revision, program review, assessment of student learning outcomes at the course and program level, and other departmental activities.
Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
Serve as a mentor to students in the Game Design program.
Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner which does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, political affiliation, or other protected categories.
Remain current in the field through a variety of professional development activities.
Support division and department goals through active and collegial engagement in decision-making and unit-level planning.
Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or associate vice chancellor, vice chancellor, executive vice chancellor.
Required: Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom and online learning as well as to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties (posting office hours, syllabi, grades, etc.). Advanced skills in Unity and C# Scripting language.

Comply with published college policies and procedures and meet professional standards for teaching in a community college.
Required: In accordance with SACS accreditation standards: Bachelor’s degree in Art or R-T-F with evidence of training in digital media or Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication, Computer Graphics (animation, 3-D modeling, etc.), Game Development, Game Programming and Simulation or Computer Science or Associate degree in one of these areas and 3 years non-teaching work experience or Master’s certificate with 18 graduate hours in these disciplines. Preferred: A Bachelor's degree in Game Development emphasis in game design or game scripting.

Required Work Experience (Workforce Programs)
In accordance with Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements: Three years of non-teaching, industry-related work experience within the game development industry. SACSCOC requirements may differ depending on the courses taught within the discipline.
