The job
Laerdal’s goal is to help save one million lives every year by 2030. We are looking for an exceptional industrial design leader to manage and continuously develop a team of talented designers towards this aspirational future.
The industrial design group consists of 10 (as of today) brilliant designers. You will be their leader and coach on all design related topics. The design manager is responsible for professional development and progression along our well-established design career path. As their leader, you will also make sure the team is happy and productive in their day-to-day work.
You will support our management group in establishing the best team topologies in our cross-functional product teams. As part of this staffing activity, talent attraction and retention is an important part of the job.
You will be part of a strong Design Management team, covering all facets of design work (Interaction Design, Service Design and Industrial Design). With this group, you will contribute in shaping the design strategy, create alignment on tools and processes, and to bring design in Laerdal even further. The industrial design manager owns the industrial design language guidelines, and is responsible to continuously develop and improve the user experience of our physical products.

Key activities
• Attract and retain Industrial Design supertalents.
• Coach, mentor and guide designers; on the job and in their professional development.
• Support product leadership teams in making the right design decisions.
• Evangelize design across Laerdal, globally.
• Nurture and continuously develop our design language guidelines.
• Manage industrial design tools and processes

Qualifications
• Preferably a Master’s degree within industrial design
• 5-10 years of hands-on industrial design experience
• Proven leadership skills
• Profound insight in user-centered design methodologies
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Experience with stakeholder management

This job in based on-site in Stavanger, Norway. As we are a truly global company, traveling will be required. We offer competitive and flexible working conditions.
