Boston Dynamics is a world leader in mobile robots, tackling some of the toughest robotics challenges. For years, our awe-inspiring viral videos on YouTube have shown the world what remarkably capable robots can do. Now we are quickly becoming a recognized leader in automation solutions for industrial applications, logistics and warehouses.

We are seeking an Industrial Designer to help create the next generation of astounding and practical mobile robots. In this role you will help define and develop the visual design of our robot platforms from concept through production. You will join a team devoted to producing extremely high quality hardware, and a research culture that embraces collaboration.

Day to Day Activities:

- Iterative concept development, design refinement and production support
- Support the industrial design lead and engineering team
- Contribute to defining and evolving a visual form language
- Design trend research with critical understanding
- User research to understand workflows and usability issues


Desired Skills:

- 5+ years of experience with an in-house design group or a consultancy
- BFA / BS in industrial design
- Must be able to demonstrate superb form development
- Experience with consumer or apparel products a strong plus
- Ability to solve complex problems with intuitive solutions (relevant work)
- A demonstrated understanding of color, material & finish
- Proficiency in visual communication and related tools
- Proficiency in 3D CAD Modeling using either Rhino, Solidworks or Catia
- Basic understanding of various manufacturing processes
