Job Description

Lifetime Brands is a leading global provider of housewares with an emphasis in non-electric kitchen products and tableware. The Seattle branch is looking for an experienced Industrial Designer to join our team. This position is responsible for designing new products for our in-house and private label brands. As part of our team you will be responsible for design of new items through the whole process: from research to prototyping to finishing touches in CAD. We are looking for someone who can figure out creative solutions to everyday problems, can prioritize workload, can frame a point of view, and has a broad skill set. This role serves as a key player in our product development team.

Overview

-Works with given ID teams on multiple projects/brands
-Responsible for maintaining industry best levels of design
-Concept development, design, prototyping and rendering
-Develops iconic product that has a soul and elevates the brand
-Works under the direction of the Lead Designer to ensure clarity of projects and process
-Assists with development innovation sessions
-Works on opportunistic project needs as they are scheduled
-Delivers product in each required category to meet the needs of all parties
-Works with engineers to ensure mechanical product approval
-Ensures brand guidelines are adhered to
-Ensures new ideas are cross functionally vetted
-Works with Lead Designer to ensure tight, cohesive output each time, regardless of project
-Works with the CMF team on integrations of trends, colors, finishes, etc.
-Addresses specific business segmentation in each presentation
-Researches and provides substance and data behind new ideas and concepts
-Assists in preparing customer-facing presentations for Design Manager
-Supports seasonal presentations as needed

Responsibilities

-SME (Subject Matter Expert) of the given brand segment
-Ensures team is kept abreast on emerging potential substrates to ensure production/factory needs are in place
-Recommends new product initiatives that enhance opportunity for growth in current and/or emerging categories
-Identifies trends in products, categories and competitors
-Ensures adherence to process
-Catalogs/archives design work for future use
-Works with other teams to contribute in best possible manner

Requirements

-Degree in Industrial Design
-5+ years' experience in a corporate or consultant ID role
-Highly creative
-Attention to detail and inquisitive nature
-Positive, collaborative attitude
-Professional demeanor
-Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
-Skilled using analog tools: hack prototyping, finish prototyping, and general workshop proficiency
-Skilled using digital tools like SolidWorks, Keyshot, Adobe CS, and 3D printing
-Portfolio of exceptional design work including products that have seen production
