Arktura LLC, a global technology and design manufacturer of Architectural Systems is searching for a Industrial Designer who has a refined design sensibility, enthusiasm, and and a passion for making things. You will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, software developers, scientists, and sales, and marketing experts in our state of the art Los Angeles Manufacturing Headquarters, where we will design the future of the built environment.

As a skilled designer with a diverse background you will use your holistic perspective of product design and toolkit of communication and design methods (sketching, prototyping, modeling, rendering, oral, and written) to lead the development of Arktura’s next innovative architectural systems. You will join a multi-disciplinary team who challenge the expected and push the boundaries of design. With experience in many manufacturing and prototyping techniques and the curiosity to learn more you will ensure the design intent is maintained through the product lifecycle from initial concept through production and validation. A portfolio is a must for role consideration.
Once here you will immediately make an impact by:
Conceptualizing new patterns, forms, structures, and the future of architectural systems
Identifying inspiration, trends, and references to build consensus and determine the product requirements and new opportunities
Bringing systems to life though sketching, quick prototyping, and detailed 3D Modeling
Using your communication and clarity to lead design reviews and agile-based projects
Thoughtfully developing the creative and engineering details to ensure ease of use and manufacturing
Developing documents that will communicate how to turn your designs into reality
Reviewing your finished products in our state of the art manufacturing facility; in the same building you designed it.
Naturally, you have:
1 to 3 years’ experience as an Industrial Designer
Incredible 3D modelling skills in Rhino and Alias or Solidworks
A passion for fabrication and working with your hands
Confidence in your hand sketching
Exceptional communication skills
A drive to take responsibility and get things done, while being a stellar team player
Graphic Design and Layout skills
A passion for continuing to learn and grow
Organizational skills that help you to keep track of everything
Experience with modeling Class A Surfaces
A love and hate relationship with Microsoft Word and Excel
A degree in Industrial Design
Any of these would be a plus:
The ability to design parametrically through Grasshopper or Houdini
Experience with architectural design, detailing or construction
Experience with ERP systems
Experience with sheet metal design
A passion for CNC manufacturing
Experience with microcontrollers or programming languages
