As part of the UX Design team you have the courage and imagination to shape the future of mobility.
You will apply your design thinking process and strategic leadership cross functionally to ensure Nikola vehicles are safe and easy to operate.
You will be the voice of the customer and your research and user validation findings will inform the digital product strategy.
You will have a leading role in ensuring customer acceptance and satisfaction and will be an advocate for UX Principles and values within the company along with other members of the UX team.
The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in design research methods, an understanding of and commitment to user-centered design and have experience planning and facilitating research for digital products. Together, with the UX Design Team and Nikola stakeholders you will be a driver for the evolution of Nikola’s digital product experience.
You will lead and conduct user evaluations and user testing to validate our UX-design concepts. Your goal is to understand user acceptance of our interaction models and be able to optimize the experience.
You help to develop and establish our experience principles as well as translate Nikola’s brand and functional objectives into detailed specifications.
A thorough understanding of the delicate balance between feature, technology, hardware, interior design, timelines, and serving our brand’s purpose, business missions, and customer needs is necessary for this role.
What you’ll be creating:
Define, design, and run qualitative and quantitative user studies with internal and external participants in multiple vehicle environments including vehicle simulator.
Collaborate cross functionally to analyze usability to address and ensure the ease of use of the Nikola in-vehicle experience.
Present study findings in the form of reports visual presentations
Provide useful recommendations from study findings to drive product design and research decisions.
Implement discovery process to gather information on what has been done, what has failed, and what has succeeded and communicate these findings.
Display excellent time management skills and lead UX research to complete work by, or before deadline.
Align and/or evolve the UX process to add more strategic value to the product team’s processes so that UX is involved from the start, collaboration, knowledge transfer, processes, efficiencies, etc.
What you “must” already bring to the table:
Experience with automotive specific HMI design, instrument cluster, head unit, and other in-vehicle experience design
Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer interaction or related field / experience
5 years of relevant work experience within User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, applied research setting, and/or product research and development.
Experience with cognitive load / driver distraction issues including NHTSA regulatory guidelines is preferred.
You have a passion for flawless, delightful, and differentiated user experiences, as well as invention and human computer interaction.
Experience in a fast-paced software environment and an ability to execute against aggressive
