Your role in helping us shape the future:

The Manager of UX & Product Design will lead the user experience, design, and user research strategies for the U.S. News Education product suite. This includes driving the design thinking through a user-centric approach that aligns business goals with user goals and incorporates qualitative and quantitative research, competitive research, and analytic tools. Their success as leader is dependent on tight collaboration with cross-department stakeholders. The Manager of UX & Product Design will work on a variety of consumer web products across our Education franchise at usnews.com/education, a native mobile app, and our B2B platforms. This also has managing and mentoring responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

Lead UX designer for Education vertical: Lead the UX and design evolution for the U.S. News Education team, including our flagship Best Colleges franchise. Maintain designer operations within the vertical by helping shape roadmaps, resource allocation and product requirements. Act as subject matter expert: Consistently provide the department with specific, actionable recommendations for UX improvements across key metrics.

Visual design: Create high fidelity mockups, wireframes and architecture diagrams to help us better serve our millions of users and customers.

Collaboration: Work closely with product managers to ideate, iterate and refine new products and features. Work with development teams to synthesize designs with execution.

UX research and strategy: Use website analysis and competitive research to help define and socialize the UX, design, and user research strategies for the Education team. Work with the team to prioritize and execute user research and testing.

Align user and business goals: Execute key business objectives with industry-leading user experience solutions. Ensure that design aligns with key goals including support for consumer decision-making and purchase funnels, user registration and revenue programs.

Proactive Iteration & Impact: Continuously introduce improvements to the user experience and visual language of the website and USN products. Engage in feedback loops with product teams to understand the impact of UX decisions on key metrics.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS
You Should Definitely Have:

At least 5 years designing and shipping digital products as part of a cross-functional team

Interest and aptitude in strategy discussions, and a real point of view about the role of design in the organization

Experience building performance marketing solutions

Ability to work independently and set goals for UX improvements

Experience working in a product teams structure

Experience with competitive analysis, user research and applying those findings to UX/Design execution

Portfolio or case studies showcasing experience in executing on key business objectives through user experience
