Essential Duties and Responsibilities (others duties may be assigned): Candidates are expected to teach the equivalent of 3 courses per semester and will be expected to teach a variety of courses related to UI/UX. The candidate may be asked to collaborate with campus units to develop UI/UX courses. The candidate will assist in student advising activities such as, placing students in internships, creating connections between students and organizations, and working with MTU Enterprise Program. The candidate may be expected to engage in service to the university as needed.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (min requirements) Candidates should have 7 years industry experience in UI/UX positions, served in technical lead or leadership roles, and have experience in the following areas of UI/UX:
+information architecture
+content strategy
+prototyping
+visual communication
+related working knowledge of analytics.
Candidates should be active in the UI/UX professional community.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: Proficiency with industry standard software and tools, such as: wireframing tools, interactive mockup tools, Adobe XD and Creative Suite, XML editors, usability and accessibility tools, and statistical/analytic tools.
Desirable Education/Experience: Previous teaching experience (in either academia or industry settings) is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading diverse teams and mentoring. 10 years of industry experience or more is desired.
Special consideration to candidates familiar with User research and collaborative/team processes; accessible/ethical/sustainable design; designing for diversity and inclusion; and/or experience in coding (e.g. Javascript, React, HTML5).
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: If interested, the candidate may engage in interdisciplinary research with faculty across campus. Prior research experience is beneficial. Familiarity with ethical review boards for human subjects research.
