Job Description

Burrow is seeking a Senior Designer (Furniture) as we continue to innovate and redefine the furniture space. They will work under the guidance of the Vice President of Product & Merchandising to manage the design process from the seed of the idea to delivery. The ideal hire will identify key business needs, articulate high level design and product strategy initiatives, display an inventive spirit and an excellent eye for detail. Additionally, they will need to manage a team of designers to deliver design presentations, specifications, and follow-up to ensure our products are exceptional, and all product development deadlines and key calendar dates are met. A strong candidate will embody the skills needed to actively work with our manufacturers and internal development team on product cost, construction, and quality assurance.

Day to Day Responsibilities
Work alongside the VP of Product & Merchandising to define business designs needs
Conduct market research, then prepare trend presentations outlining future design direction and help set direction for product categories, colors and materials
Oversee design and development of all items in the relevant product categories, from initial concept through approval
Manage production of sketches and renderings, and present to relevant parties
Review specifications and samples and provide guidance to designers
Drive calendar to ensure all deadlines and key dates are met.
Manage and develop a team of designers
Determine workload for staff and recommend effective processes and procedures to improve workflow and results
Travel as needed to factories and buying shows domestically and internationally

You in a Nutshell
Minimum 6 years professional experience required, 2 years of which were in a managerial role.
Passionate about design, style, and decorating
Knowledgeable and can drive the product development process, including working and communicating with factories
Experienced in designing to a budget and have a working knowledge of the cost implications of the materials and manufacturing techniques used in the execution of your designs
Love to work collaboratively in a group and have an innate willingness to dig in and contribute with your team
Pride yourself on the quality of work and are a stickler for the details
Experience in the home furniture industry preferred
Bachelors Degree in design or equivalent experience
Experience with, but are not limited to, artistic renderings, CAD models, 3D modeling, physical models, and written reports.
Communicate effectively with internal and external resources to ensure new product development success
Maintain a strong working knowledge of material and process technologies applicable to new product development
