A Senior Industrial Designer at UPPAbaby focuses on a holistic design approach, beginning with ideation and continuing through into the manufacturing of our products. This position requires a mechanically minded person, with experience in overseas manufacturing, a good understanding of human factors and a keen eye for aesthetics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design research and detailed knowledge of industry trends
• Innovative thinking and ideation along with the ability to communicate these
ideas through sketching, 3D modeling and in writing
• Running brainstorming sessions and design reviews in addition to attending weekly
product recap meetings
• Collaborating with the mechanical engineering team to ensure product
manufacturability and integrity
• Mentoring the junior design staff and assisting them understanding our process
and brand
• Daily communication with overseas factories
• Overseas travel to work with our suppliers and factories
• Domestic travel for conferences and trade shows
• 10% of time annually may be devoted to travel
• Working with the engineering team to complete product specs and BOM’s
• Realizing your ideas through prototyping and bread-boarding ideas as they pertain
to the development process
• Working independently with outside engineering and design resources
• Executing projects with project management to hit deadlines and ensure
information is communicated in a timely fashion both internally and externally
• General understanding and application of soft goods, patterns, and materials

About you:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator (other comparable software also acceptable)

Excellent sketching skills and 3D modeling experience using Solidworks

Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft word

Excellent understanding of the manufacturing process, specifically tailored to understand part moldability and material selection

Self-motivated to complete all task required of the job and high attention to detail and have strong problem solving skills

Passion for showing an appreciation for strong aesthetics

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in industrial design and 5-7 years’ experience in industrial design and product development

Some juvenile experience is a plus

This position requires the employee be in the office
